Consonant time is a project that has as its starting point a key concept, - described in the book The expulsion of the Other by the South Korean philosopher Byung-Chul Han - the disappearance of the figure of the Other in the world dominated by digital communication. We are experiencing contemporary hyperconnected lives but at the same time with indices of solitude never detected before. Relationships with people are impoverished and new pathologies arising (such as loneliness and a general disconnection from reality). As Han writes “Only the encounter with the Other, destabilizing and life-giving, can give each one his own identity and generate real experience”.
Han emphases the urgency of building a human community based on listening and openness to the Other, to be in person with others.
Creating a visual analysis - with the photographic medium - of what we are losing nowadays being hyperconnected via social media, the investigation take place talking about the contemporary issue, creating a conversation behind the frame and collecting notes and photographs.
